What we can refer you for

One short telehealth consult covers specialist referrals, imaging, and pathology requests.

Specialist referrals

Dermatologist, psychiatrist, cardiologist, gynaecologist, ENT, endocrinologist and more — a valid GP referral so you can claim your Medicare rebate.

Allied health

Physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology, dietetics and more — including GP care plans (CDM/EPC) and Mental Health Treatment Plans where eligible.

Imaging & scans

X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, mammogram and DEXA — a GP request so your scan can be bulk billed or rebated where eligible.

Pathology

Blood tests and other pathology — iron studies, thyroid, hormones, general health checks — requested by your GP.

Frequently asked questions

Can a GP really issue a referral by telehealth?+
Yes. AHPRA-registered GPs can provide referrals, pathology requests and imaging requests through a telehealth consultation where it is clinically appropriate, following the same standards as an in-person appointment.
Do I need a referral to see a specialist in Australia?+
You can see most specialists privately without a referral, but you need a valid GP referral to claim a Medicare rebate on the specialist's fee — which is usually a significant saving. Some specialists won't accept patients without one.
How long does a GP referral last?+
A referral from a GP to a specialist is valid for 12 months from the first appointment by default. Your GP can mark it as indefinite for an ongoing condition. A referral from one specialist to another lasts 3 months.
Is the consultation bulk billed?+
Bulk billing is available for eligible Medicare card holders. Your GP will confirm any costs before proceeding. Pathology, imaging and specialist fees are separate and billed by those providers.
Will I definitely get a referral?+
Not always. A referral is only issued where it is clinically appropriate after the GP reviews your situation. If a referral isn't right for you, the GP will explain why and discuss alternatives.
Which states do you cover?+
We provide telehealth consultations Australia-wide — QLD, NSW, VIC, WA, SA, ACT, TAS and NT.
